Reta Jones, 95 from Sunray, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, September 13, 2025. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Thursday, 1:00pm September 18, 2025, at the Sunray Church of Christ, with Johnathan Zerby officiating, following a private burial at Lane Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Beeson - Morrison Funeral Directors.
Reta and her twin sister, Leta were born on February 9, 1930, to Archie and Essie Neal – the middle of 10 children. She married the love of her life, Bobbie R. Jones on February 15, 1947, and together they moved to Sunray in October of 1949. They were married for 61 years prior to his death on March 13, 2008.
Reta was known for being a proud, strong woman of limitless faith. She lived a long, wonderful life filled with love, family and very dear friends. Despite losing her eyesight in 2012, she remained living independently in her home, with the help of her community. She was known to speak her mind, but always the truth. Her greatest joy was becoming a Christian on November 2, 1958, and witnessing the baptism of her husband on March 18, 1982, at the age of 57. Her ultimate goal was to ensure that she and her family knew God and were received into Heaven.
Reta was preceded in death by her husband, Bobbie R. Jones; children: Brinda Reeves and Bobby Jones Jr.; sisters: Martha Pennington, Christine Parks, Florice Morris and Leta Dixon; brothers: Joe Neal, Troy Neal and Don Neal.
Reta is survived by her children: Ronnie and Karla Jones of The Colony, Texas and Gary Jones and Robert Hornbeck of Sedona, Arizona; grandchildren: Corey Fox, Stephanie Dixon, Jason Fox, Chad Reeves, Tamara Hinsley and 13 great grandchildren; sisters: Patsy Greene, Genita Dalby; brother: Smith Neal.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Dumas Area Meals on Wheels, PO Box 1535, Dumas, Texas 79029 or Memorial Hospice, 209 S Bliss Ave., Dumas, TX 79029
Our family would like to share our deepest gratitude to the people who cared for and made it possible for Reta to stay at home until her passing. She was blessed with amazing care takers, hospice nurses and friends. A special thank you to Beth and Rocky Rexrode and Howard and Genelle Patton and family. Without your love, support and sacrifices, this would not have been possible. You will always be a special part of our family.
