Richard Allen Kerns, 65 of Dumas, passed away on Friday, October 2, 2026. A Memorial Service is scheduled for 11 o’clock in the morning on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Watson officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors.

Richard was born on September 2, 1961, in Lafayette, Louisiana, to Bud and Nelda Kerns. He was united in marriage to Sheila Sosebee. Richard worked at HJC Farms and as someone who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved watching movies, enjoyed fishing, and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. His faith was also an important part of his life, and he was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

He is survived by his life partner, Sheila Sosebee of the home; son: Dusty Kerns and wife Laurie and family of Lumberton, TX; daughter: Shawna DeLord and husband Kevin and family of Buna, TX; stepdaughters: Jennifer Watters and husband Rusty along with their family, Brenna Jones and Shane LaRue along with her family all of Dumas, TX; grandchildren: Gavin and Dax Bustamante, Maisie Nichols, Peyton Watters, Karrissa Rice, Kate Jones and Kasandra Jones, Brett Rice, Isac Adams and Lila Kerns.
