Ricky Don Lawson, born December 11, 1955, in Hobbs, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2026, in Dumas, Texas. His life was marked by dedication to his family, his country, and his community, and he leaves behind a legacy of hard work, loyalty, and cherished memories.
Ricky was united in marriage to Doniece Huguley on June 8, 1978, in Olton, Texas. Their marriage was a foundational part of his life until she preceded him in death in 2005. A proud veteran, Ricky served in the U.S. Navy as a diesel mechanic, demonstrating commitment and skill in his work. Following his service, he owned and operated Triple L Utilities with his father for 30 years.
Beyond his professional life, Ricky was an avid outdoorsman who found joy in fishing, hunting, and skinning coyotes. Ricky enjoyed raising and showing livestock with his two daughters during their school years. His recent pastimes were singing karaoke, scratching lotto tickets and visiting casinos. These passions often connected him with friends and family.
Ricky is survived by his beloved daughters, Amber Hokanson and her wife Crystal, and Ashlee Breland and her husband Zach, all residing in Dumas, Texas. He took great pride in his numerous grandchildren—Bailee Goodman and her husband Cale, Rylee Voelker and her husband Trenton, Bentlee McKay, Adilynn Farni, Zander Breland and Zeplin Breland. He also recently had a precious great-grandchild, Chandler Grace Goodman. Family also includes his loving siblings Brenda Snider and her husband Joe, Pam Lawson, and Leonard Lawson with his wife Shelli. His mother, Margaret Lawson, also survives him, a pillar through the years of his life.
He was preceded in death by his wife Doniece, his father, Donnie Lawson, and special friends Ann Childress and Jan Bailey, who held a special place in his heart.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2 o’clock in the afternoon on Friday, April 24, 2026, at Morrison Memorial Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors.
Ricky Don Lawson’s life was one of steadfast devotion to his family and country. He was of Christian Faith and will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for his kindness, witty sense of humor, and great story telling abilities.
