Robbie Lee Robertson

Robbie Lee Robertson, 74, of Dumas, TX, walked into the arms of Jesus on August 11, 2026, after a long-fought battle with ALS. 

Robbie was born on November 4, 1951 in Mangum, OK, to his parents, L.C. and Juanita Robertson. 

Robbie’s family moved to Dumas when he was young. He went to school in Dumas and graduated from Dumas High School in 1970. When he was young, he was involved in the Ag program and Boy Scouts. After high school, he was drafted into the Army. He was in the 94th MP Battalion in Baumholder, Germany. Robbie married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Joy, in 1972. Robbie was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Dumas. 

Robbie and Joy had 2 kids, Kelli and Chad, that took up most of his adult life. He was a great dad that was involved with everything his kids participated in. 

Robbie worked at Natural Gas Pipeline Company of America, and the numerous companies that followed for many years. There he made many lifelong friendships. After retirement, he worked for Mustang and did pipeline inspections, he ran a distribution company for a while and drove a school bus until his health made doing things difficult.

Then the most fun and exciting times of Robbie’s life happened, he had grandkids and became an Awpa! He was so proud of Alex and Laura and loved them so much. They brought so much happiness to his world. 

Robbie is proceeded in death by his parents, L.C. and Juanita Robertson, his big brother James Robertson, his in-laws Henry and Leona Culpepper, brother in-law Joe Culpepper, a nephew Jarrett Culpepper, a brother-in law Wayne Harkrider, and some of his very best friends. 

Robbie is survived by his wife of 54 years Joy Robertson, his daughter and son-in law Kelli and Tim Bilbrey, his son and daughter-in law Chad and Janna Robertson, his grandson Alex Bilbrey, granddaughter Laura Robertson, his big sister and brother-in law Jo Anna and Bob Scholl, nephew Michael Harkrider, nieces Michele Lambert and Mary Ashley, and many good friends. 

Robbie’s Memorial Service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Dumas on Saturday, August 15 at 1 o'clock in the afternoon.

In honor of Robbie, in lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made to The Paralyzed Veterans of America or your favorite charity. The family would like to thank the Amarillo VA and BSA Hospice for taking such good care of Robbie during his time of need.
