Rodney Eugene Edwards

Rodney Eugene Edwards, 68 of Channing, passed away Saturday, January 14,2023, at his home. Graveside services are scheduled for 10:30 in the morning on Friday, January 20, 2023, at the Channing Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 o'clock to 8 o'clock in the evening at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors. 

Born to Dale Roger and Betty Jo Bacot Edwards on February 19,1954. Rodney attended Channing School where he played basketball during his High School years and graduated in 1972. He attended Clarendon College and graduated on the Dean’s List with a Degree in Ranch Management and met and married Gail Williams in February 1974 and divorced in May 1976.

He worked on Proctor Ranch during the summers of High School and later as a full time Cowboy for the Ranch. He enjoyed participating in Steer Roping's, he drove a cattle truck for a brief time and worked on a Ranch in Higgins. He spent most of his time in Ranch work until his accident in 1982. After his recovery he helped area Ranches with cattle work and rode his horses. He spent his later years taking care of his horse Rock.

Rodney was preceded in death by his father and one Brother-ln-Law, Jackie Glen Maupin; his grandparents Paschal E. (Pat) and Lou E. (Billie) Edwards, and Raymond and Edith Bacot; one Great Niece, Elahna Bea Mason.

He is survived by his mother Betty, and sisters, Rohnda Poteet, and Renee Mason and one son Roger Elliot; Nephews, Will Maupin, Brad Poteet, Dustin Maupin, and Phillip Mason. Great Nephew; Jack Dillion Maupin and Great Nieces; Haylee Maupin, Laycee Maupin, Kynlee Maupin, Peyton Poteet, Jade Mason, and Laynie Maupin; Aunts, Uncles and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Channing Volunteer Fire Department or Channing Cemetery.
