Roger Bennett

Roger Bennett, 75 of Dumas, passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2017. Memorial services are scheduled for 10 o'clock in the morning on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. John Sanders, pastor of the church, officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors. Roger was born on May 3, 1941 to Loy and Vivian (Jackson) Bennett in the family home near Odell, TX. Roger married the love of his life, Elaine, on June 24, 1960 at Farmers Valley Methodist Church; the couple enjoyed 50 years of marriage until her passing in 2010. Roger had worked at CIG for over 30 years until his retirement. He loved to fish, hunt arrowheads and had a fondness for eagles. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Dumas. Roger was a very gentle and kind man who will be missed by his family and numerous friends. In addition to his wife, he is also preceded in death by his parents. Roger is survived by his daughter Dory Bennett and companion Donnie Swimmer of Sunray; two sons: Dale Bennett and wife Doris of Princeton and Marvin Bennett and wife Maria of San Antonio; brothers: Donald Bennett and wife Priscilla, Wayne Bennett and wife Marie, and Kent Bennett and wife Judy; six grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members. The family suggests with gratitude that memorials be made to Memorial Hospice, 224 E 2nd, Dumas TX, 79029. The family will be at 302 N Bliss.
