He graduated from Amarillo Palo Duro High School in 1962 where he excelled in baseball. He went on to play baseball at Amarillo College and West Texas State University where he earned a degree in Business.

Ron married Judy Steinberger on April 8, 1966, and they shared 59 wonderful years together, living in Andrews, Fort Worth, Eastland, Wichita Falls, Arlington and Granbury. He was an active member of the Methodist Church in his adulthood holding many different positions from church security to helping lead Sunday School.

Ron began his career with Texas Electric Service Company in 1967 and remained with the company through many transitions, Including TXU and TXU Electric & Gas, before retiring in 1999 as the Vice President of Rates and Regulatory.
