Ruth Lillian Ramsey went to her heavenly home on September 12, 2025, at the age of 96 years old. Ruth was born Ruth Lillian Hensley to Alex and Stella Hensley on July 20, 1929, in Lubbock, Texas. She graduated Lubbock High School in 1947 and then attended Texas Tech for 3 years and then Draughon’s Business College. She was a bookkeeper for MacFarland Insurance in Lubbock. In 1953, she met Bill Ramsey, and they were married on June 2, 1954.
Bill worked as a hybrid wheat producer, so they moved many times in their earlier years of marriage. Ruth was a devoted wife and homemaker and went wherever Bill’s work took him. They have lived in Texas, Georgia, Oklahoma, Arizona, and Mexico, but settled their last 51 years in Dumas, Texas.
In Dumas, Bill and Ruth were active members of the First Baptist Church. Ruth was involved in youth mission trips as a cook, helped with 8th grade Sunday School classes and outings and cooked for the grief ministry. She was also a member of the quilting group in Dumas and enjoyed sewing for the public. Her joy in life was her children and grandchildren. She loved to watch them play their sports and was one of their biggest fans. Her other hobbies were cooking and traveling with Bill and their friend group from Dumas.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Bill Earl Ramsey of Dumas, her parents Alex and Stella Hensley, brother G W Hensley and sister Pat Wheeler all of Lubbock, Texas.
She is survived by her 2 children, son Mark Ramsey and wife Lisa of Amarillo, and daughter, Sondra Arnold and husband Pat of Keller, Texas. She is also survived by 3 grandchildren Lindsay Dusenbury (Richard) of Dallas, Macy Ramsey of Reston, Virginia and Alex Arnold (Ashlyn) of Godley, Texas and 4 great grandchildren; Scarlett, Stevie and Emma Arnold and Elizabeth Dusenbury as well as nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 10:30 in the morning on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors followed by a graveside service at 11 o'clock in the morning at Dumas Cemetery. Pastor Darrell Wait, pastor of First Christian Church, will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations made be made to the Gideons.
