Sandra Marie “Sandy” Newcomb, 76, of Canyon, Texas, passed away on January 2, 2026. Sandy was known for her sweet and kind spirit, her quick wit, and the way she made people feel welcomed, loved, and accepted. She had a beautiful singing voice, played the piano, and carried a lifelong love of music.
Sandy was born on September 20, 1949, in Amarillo, Texas, to Orville and Nettie (Greathouse) Campbell. She grew up on a farm in Washburn, Texas and attended school in Claude with her brothers Danny, Grover, and Mike.
On September 17, 1977, she married David Newcomb in Washburn, and they made their home in Stratford, Texas. Music was a constant presence in their lives, and Sandy and David sang together in the church choir.
Sandy was a devoted mother to her daughters, Jennifer Melton and Carrie Nusz, and a loving mother-in-law to Justin Melton and Jason Nusz. She was also a proud grandmother to Kaytone and Kenzie Melton, and Mark and Rachel Nusz. After David’s passing, Sandy was blessed to gain additional family through the Meltons, who welcomed her as their own, along with seven more grandchildren whom she dearly loved.
Her dedication and strong work ethic was known by so many during her time at A&I Parts, where she worked from 1994 until her retirement in 2022.
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Orville and Nettie Campbell; her brother, Mike Campbell; and her husband, David Newcomb.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on January 10, 2026, at First Christian Church in Stratford, Dee Mayfield officiating. Graveside services will follow at Stratford Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on January 9, 2026, at the funeral home in Stratford. Arrangements are under the direction of Beeson-Morrison Funeral Directors.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Skywest Assisted Living in Canyon, Texas, for their exceptional care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Skywest Assisted Living in her memory.
After living with dementia in her later years, Sandy is now at peace, reunited with her loved ones, her mind made whole, and her song continuing in the presence of Jesus.
