Shawn Allen, 56, passed away after a brutal 2 year battle with cancer; at his residence in Sunray, Tx. Born on February 5th 1970, in Cincinnati Ohio. Shawn was the son of Andrew and Alicia Allen.

Shawn dedicated most of his life serving his country. In 1987, at age 17, he joined the U.S. Army and honorably retired in 2011. His service included 4 tours in Saudi Arabia during the Gulf War and later served 18 months in Iraq during the Iraqi War. He continued to serve as an instructor for the Military Intelligence School on Fort Huachuca Arizona as a civilian contractor. He also volunteered on the B Troop Cavalry Regiment Team.

He earned his Masters degree in Homeland Security from the University of Management and Technology and was a proud member of the International Honors Society Delta Epsilon Tau.

In 1991, Shawn met his wife Susan. The two were married in 1994 in El Paso, TX , while both being stationed at Fort Bliss, TX. During their 32 years together, they had two children, Alicia (Will) Allen-Carpenter and Baylee (Olvin) Allen-Ortiz. Shawn's greatest joy in life was family. Being "Pop-Pop” to his grandchildren Felicity, Genovali, and Phoenix and was anxiously awaiting the arrival of Lucas. Shawn adored his grandchildren deeply and cherished every moment with them.

Shawn and his wife spent time traveling and vacationing. He was a proud supporter of Alicia's Barrel Racing career and Baylee's development of her own business. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles, working on classic cars, and celebrating special occasions at Texas Roadhouse.

A private service with full military honors for his close family and friends will be held at a later date.
