Obituary

Thomas “Tommy” Neal Asher, 77 of Stratford, Texas, passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2026. Private family graveside services will be held at Stratford Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors.

Tommy was born on December 13, 1948, in Buckner, Arkansas, to Frank Asher and Anne Pulliam. He was united in marriage to Rebeccas “Becky” Guthrie on February 14, 1970 in Stratford, TX. Over the course of his life, he was known as a farmer and was one of the first to grow cotton in Sherman country. He also gave 24 years of public service to his community as a Sherman County Commissioner. His long commitment to that role reflected a steady dedication to the people and place he served.

Tommy will also be remembered for the simple enjoyments that brought him happiness, including his fondness for slot machines. Those who knew him will remember a man whose life was rooted in work, service, and the familiar pleasures he enjoyed along the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents, JO and Anne Pulliam.

Tommy is survived by his loving wife, Becky; sons: Heath Asher and wife Jolie of Stratford, TX, Scott Asher and wife Stephanie of Ropesville, TX; grandchildren: Alexis Sutterfield and husband Sawyer, and John McBroom; great-grandchildren: Jensen Sutterfield, Sutton Sutterfield, and Rowan McBroom. Tommy Asher’s life leaves a lasting impression through his years of labor, public service, and connection to his community. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
