Tyler Jackson Lankford, 45, was called home by God on November 9, 2025. Born in Amarillo, TX on March 1, 1980, Tyler grew up surrounded by family, faith, music, and a lifelong love of learning. In 1987, Tyler moved with the family to Garland, TX. He attended Hickman Elementary, Walnut Glen Academy, Austin Academy and graduated from Naaman Forest High School in 1998. He later continued his education at Richland College.
In 2003, Tyler moved to Dallas, where he developed deep roots and a lasting love for the city. In 2012, he moved to Stratford, TX and lived the rest of his days surrounded by the love of his mother, Kim Jackson Lankford, and his wife, Lorien Highland Lankford.
Tyler was incredibly intelligent and endlessly curious-he taught himself many new subjects constantly and was known as a man who “knew a lot about a lot.” He loved people deeply. His contagious laugh, warm presence, and compassion made others feel understood and valued. He believed in unity, peace, pacifism and love, and he lived those principles every day.
A devout Christian, Tyler carried the Kingdom of God within him and tried always to reflect grace and kindness. He was a son, grandson, nephew, poet, musician, husband, uncle, brother, stepfather and friend. Music was one of his greatest gifts; he was a gifted singer and songwriter who poured his heart into every note. He loved his guitar, the Dallas Mavericks, graffiti art and the quiet beauty of a West Texas sunset.
Tyler will be remembered for his brilliance, his kindness, his faith, and the love he gave so freely. His presence was a blessing, and his memory will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Please join the family as they honor and celebrate his life at 4 o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at First Christian Church in Stratford, TX with Tim Boyer officiating.
