Verlin Everett Sandlin

Surrounded by his loving family, Verlin Everett Sandlin (82) passed away peacefully at home to be with his Lord and Savior on January 7, 2024. 

Verlin is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Mary Sandlin; brother-in-law, Doyle Wheeler; daughter, Katrina Montoya; daughter, Kristi Metz; daughter, Kobi Campbell (Lance Campbell); daughter, Melissa Winters (Tom Winters); granddaughter, Brittany Campbell; granddaughter, Grace Campbell-Grigsby (Corey Grigsby); granddaughter, Elizabeth Montoya; grandson, Nate Campbell; and great-grandsons by Elizabeth Montoya, Jaziel and Jared Mendoza. Verlin is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Ruby Sandlin; his siblings, Paul Douglas Sandlin, Vincent Sandlin, and Camellia Wheeler; and his son-in-law, Jay Metz.

Verlin was born on August 20,1941 in Paducah, TX. He graduated from Dumas High School in 1959. Verlin enlisted in the United States Navy in 1961. After completing boot camp, Verlin and Mary made their lifelong commitment to each other in San Diego, CA on July 18, 1961. Verlin loved God, his family, and his country. He served in the Navy for over seven years before being honorably discharged in 1968. During his active service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal and Certificate.   

After his service in the Navy, Verlin earned an associate degree in business from Collin County Community College and worked in telecommunications until he retired in 1995. Throughout his life, Verlin made it a priority to serve God by being a wonderful example to his family, friends, and community, as well as reaching out and witnessing the Gospel wherever life took him. In the summer of 2002, Verlin and Mary moved from Allen, TX to Priddy, TX, where they’ve spent the past 21 years. 

Verlin’s funeral service will be held at Morrison Memorial Chapel  in Dumas, TX at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 12th with the graveside service to follow. The receiving of friends will be held at Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors on Thursday, January 11th from 6 o’clock to 8 o’clock in the evening.
