Virgil N. Sumpter

Virgil N. Sumpter passed away March 16, 2021 in Amarillo, TX. He was born June 11, 1934 in Oklahoma to Robert and Alice Sumpter. He was the loving husband of Ethel Stovall Sumpter for the last 20 years. Virgil enjoyed golfing and sports of all kinds. His greatest joy was being with his grandkids and great grandkids. He is preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers, a sister, and a granddaughter, Brandi Williams. Virgil is survived by his wife, Ethel of Amarillo; sons, Brian Sumpter of Oklahoma, Barry Sumpter and wife Eilenne of Victoria, Australia; daughter, Brenda McGahey of Amarillo; grandson, John Cox and wife Nichole; granddaughter, Jamie Rodriguez and husband Samuel; 11 great grandkids and a bunch of nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to First Baptist Church, Lowell, Ark, 409 Johnson Ave., Lowell, AR 72745. The family will hold services at a later date.
