Wanda’s life was filled with faith, love, and creativity. She was born to Luther and Gertie Barnard on July 6, 1926, in Illinois Bend, Texas. She grew up in Olton, Texas, where she met her husband, Royse Morgan. They married on August 15, 1942, in Sayre, Oklahoma. They settled in Sunray, Texas, the very next day!

Wanda’s faith was an essential part of her life. She was baptized April 21, 1947, at Sunray Baptist Church, as a profession of her faith. She began each day with her daily Bible reading. Wanda lived a full life. She worked at the local drug store at the soda fountain, serving soft drinks and ice cream treats. She also worked at the local grocery store and the dress shop on main street. Her talents as a seamstress allowed her to create beautiful dresses, costumes, and even Barbie doll clothes. Wanda’s baking skills were equally impressive; she was well known for her beautiful cream pies. Her most rewarding act of service was raising their three children and managing the home.

After 62 years of marriage, Royse passed away. Wanda moved to The Craig in Amarillo in 2005. There, she made lasting friendships and eventually married John Runberg on March 29, 2007. John, unfortunately passed away on January 5, 2018.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, husband Royse Morgan, brothers Charlie and Marshall “Dink” Barnard, sisters Shirley Page and Juanita Carter, daughter Brenda Cox and son-in-law Wayne Cox, son Randy Morgan, and grandchildren Zackary and Heather Cox.

Surviving Wanda are her daughter Cheryl Gay Adkins and husband Robert of Palestine, Texas, daughter-in-law Mary Morgan of Dumas, Texas, granddaughter Carissa Seal and husband Shane of Cibolo, Texas, and their children Cannon and Caycie, and granddaughter Cara Patton and husband Richard of Sugar Land, Texas, and their children Mackenzie and Alexandra. Her extended family, including nieces and nephews, and the many patient and kind caregivers who offered companionship and assistance over the past two years, will cherish her memory forever.
