William Rinestine

William "Bill" Rinestine, 86 of Dumas, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2019. Funeral Services are scheduled for 3 oclock in the afternoon on Thursday, June 13, 2019 at Temple Baptist Church with Larry Harvey, officiating. Interment will follow at Northlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 oclock to 8 oclock in the evening on Wednesday at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors. Bill was born on January 11, 1933 in Nara Visa, NM to Bill and Lela (Wilson) Rinestine. Bill grew up as a ranch hand on the family ranch. He graduated high school in 1951 and then enlisted in the United States Air Force. Directly after leaving the service he went to Detroit, bought a car and brought it back to New Mexico. Shortly after returning home he joined the Rodeo Circuit and spent the next 27 years rodeoing all over the country. In 1955, he joined the professional Rodeo Association. Bill said he took the bulls because "it was just so easy." In 1959 he rode the first national finals organized rodeo placing first and later in 1959 he rode at Madison Square Gardens for the Bull Riding World Championship. He took first place again and second in bull riding for the year. In 1959 Bill married his bride Barbara Rinestine. A year later they had their daughter LaTonya. In 1964, they had their second daughter Tamara. After rodeoing, Bill worked for Kemin Chemical earning top salesman of the year. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister: Ruby Sandlin and brother: John Rinestine. Bill is survived by his wife Barbara; daughters: LaTonya Boyd and husband Phillip of Dumas and Tamara Robertson and husband Dale of Dumas; grandchildren: Tara Boyd, Tiffany Blue, Dallas Robertson, Kasey Mader, and Gavin Robertson; brother: James Rinestine and wife Renee; sister: Alice Garner; great-grandchildren: Keelei Boyd, Sawyer Robertson, Ryan Robertson, Maddox Blue, and Jaxson Blue. The family suggests in lieu of customary remembrances, that memorials be made to Dove Creek Equine Rescue, 16201 Gordon Cummings Rd, Canyon TX 79015.
