Wilma “Lavern” Baker 95 of Sunray, passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2024. A Graveside Service is scheduled for 2 o’clock in the afternoon on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at Lane Memorial Cemetery with Bruce Broxson, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors.
Wilma, fondly known as “Lavern” made an early arrival on November 11, 1928 weighing only 2 pounds. She was raised by her grandparents in Oklahoma. Lavern moved to Sunray in 1975 calling this home and where she met and married Melvin Baker. He preceded her in death in 2014. Lavern was well known for her quick wit, expertise in crochet and her famous homemade hot rolls.
In addition to her husband, Melvin, she was preceded in death by her children: Richard, Carol, Kathryn, Wilma, Earnest, and Gary; sister: Rea; brother: Jerry.
Lavern is survived by her children: Tom and Cindy Kinikin both of Dumas; step-children: Margie Freer and husband Charles, Jimmy Baker, Eunice Crumpton and husband George; and numerous multi generation grandchildren.
