Zonelle Mebane

Zonelle Mebane, 97 of Dumas, passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2024. Funeral Services are scheduled for 10 o’clock in the morning on Friday, March 1, 2024, at First Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Dumas Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, from 6 o’clock to half past 7 o’clock in the evening at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors.

 Zonelle was born February 8, 1927, in Camp Springs, TX to Elmer and Ruth (Flowers) Howell. She married James Mebane on May 12, 1946, in Snyder, TX and the couple eventually moved to Dumas where they made their home and raised their family; James preceded her in death in 2011. Zonelle was an excellent homemaker and loved to cook for her family.  She enjoyed her yard and flowers.  She enjoyed taking oil painting classes at The Art Center in Dumas and was a talented seamstress. Zonelle was a proud member of the First Methodist Church in Dumas where she was awarded with her UMW lifetime membership pen.

In addition to her husband, James, she was preceded in death by his parents; son: Jimmy in 2018; brother: Luke Howell.

Zonelle is survived by her daughter: Dorothy Beauchamp and husband Cuffy of Dumas, TX; daughter-in-law: Connie Mebane of Rogers, AR; grandchildren: Jeremy Mebane and wife Marianna, Callie Beauchamp and Tish Ramirez, Jaymie Venhaus and husband Dave, Abby Hess and husband Kurt, Emily Mooring and husband Brad, and Lacey Hahn and husband Derek; great grandchildren: Jace, Karlie, Kambree, Addi, Logan, Brody, Quinn, Halli, Henry, Christina, Charlie, Natalie, Blaire, Mary, Phoebe Zonelle; numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
